My Paranormal World

Hello, my name is Ann and I am a paranormal tv junkie. 
I'm not sure what this fascination is, but ever since I was a young child I remember being fascinated with ghosts and all things unknown.  I've played with a oui ji board (spelling???!!), which I now know could have opened some "portal"; I grew up playing in a graveyard by my house; I read everything available on UFO's; and I've been to my fair share of psychics.  My husband thinks I'm nuts and might need an intervention--hence the "paranormal tv anonymous" beginning!


I am a believer...but I also enjoy watching the shows that make me cynical.  Ghost Adventurers always makes me wonder!  Can this guy, Zak Bagans, really approach this whole paranormal world with such irreverance?! No wonder he gets scratched!  I just am not sure what he shows us is real.  Especially after my most favorite Ghost Hunters have been to a similar site and NOT gotten the same responses in such a short amount of time. 


While I have my DVR permanently set to record my SyFy favorites, Ghost Hunters, Ghost Hunters International (ooh, very scarry!), and back soon--Ghost Hunters Academy & Destination Truth, my current obsession is actually and A&E show, Psychic Kids.  How in the world do they find these kids?  I want to believe they are truly experiencing challenges and that this show empowers them...but really?  Still, I can't stop myself on Tuesday nights from tuning in to see what new challenge Chip Coffey (medium) will give to the kids.  Of course, this just sets the scene for my other current obsession, Paranormal State. 


What I like about Ghost Hunters is that they are able to "debunk" whether experiences are paranormal or not.  And then, if truly paranormal experiences are happening, the Paranormal State team may visit the exact same site to do further research and bring in "paranormal experts" to rid the house of any horrible karma that may be present. And Chip Coffey is part of this team also! I know these two shows, on two different networks, don't mean to be a "team"--but I don't think the GH team is prepared to "rid" the house of nasty powers.  That is where Paranormal State comes in.  So...why would anyone go through both "teams"?  GH clearly has cooler gadgets--what I believe appear more scientific.  Specifically, I have got to wonder about the "ghost box" that Ghost Adventurers use, where static sound can be turned into "words" of a ghost--helping a spirit to communicate.  I just don't see that turning up on GH...maybe I'm wrong!


So...will I outgrow this obsession?  All I can say is that I've overcome a few others...just not sure on the timing of it all!
