My Pre-Homecoming Post

It is Homecoming Weekend...and my new 14 year old freshman is going to the dance tomorrow night.  He has a date, and although I've not been allowed to officially meet her as of yet, she seems extremely nice and very cute!

OK...my son has a girlfriend and is going to a high school dance.  I've long blogged about my challenge with this whole high school transition thing, but this hits a new place for me. I am thrilled he is fully participating in the whole high school experience, but he is still my little boy.

OK...he is not my "little" boy any longer. He is much taller than me now, his voice is much lower than it was a year ago, and he is concerned with things a teenage boy would be concerned about.  So imagine my difficulty in doing the simple task of having to buy flowers for his date to the dance...what? A seemingly simply thing to do, yet I felt completely overwhelmed and out of sorts. Sure, I had RECEIVED flowers for dances in the past...and I had ordered flowers for Baptisms, Communions, Confirmation and Graduation...but a dance? And for a date?

As always, I found the right person to help me with my flower dilemma...and have officially crossed that task off my list of "high school transition challenges."  Do I dare ask what is next???  Stay tuned for my Post-Homecoming Post...
Check out the great sign my son's Homecoming date
and best friend (two different people) created for him
and proudly displayed for him at his football game last week!
Some may laugh...but no other boys had a sign made for them!
And you know how I love this kind of creativity!
