Like Sand Through an Hour Glass...

We have entered the final stretch of junior high..for my 8th grader, that is.  He truly hasn't had any homework to speak of since before spring break...I am guessing that once the students get registered for high school the teachers realize that their minds are already one foot out the door.

Not only is my 8th grader ready to leave the halls of his junior high, he is doing so in a growing body and a expanding attitude.  In his mind, he's ready to drive off into the sunset.  And I do mean drive...he thinks that now he can back my car out of the garage for me...

I can still remember when he was just a baby, still learning how to crawl.  I wanted so badly for him to be able to crawl and then walk. Someone told me to be careful what I wished for...once they crawl/walk, they never stop!  And it goes by in a blink!  When we are young, we can't wait to move on to the next "level" of our lives. I remember eagerly wanting to get away to college, and then anxiously wanting to get that first job...only to have responsibility placed upon my shoulders for the expectations and costs that go along with that.  I am excited to see my son enter this next chapter in his life, but I have to admit that there are definitely moments when I officially want to STOP the sand from falling through that hour glass...at least, stop it from moving so quickly!
