It's that time again...time for American Idol to circle around to the final two contestants. Tonight fans across America will say goodbye to one of the three guys who have done a great job in this 2009 AI Season...I still can't believe Allison is gone from last week!
It makes me wonder...does the best person really win when America votes? Several years ago a bright shining star was rising up the AI ladder to success when she was suddenly found to have the least amount of votes one week...that same week the Midwest suffered from disasterous tornadoes that left many towns without power and phone service. That was the same night our own Midwestern Chicagoan Jennifer Hudson was booted off AI. And yet...she found fame anyway.
Another shining star found himself in the bottom three and then sent home...only to write a song notably called, Home, that hit the top of the charts a year later. Daughtry has gone on to great success...he found fame without being the next American Idol.
And so, while my boys and I watch this season, and watch amazing talent end up at the bottom of the "voting"...I can't help but think that "it's ok...we'll hear from him/her soon." That is why I am patiently waiting for Allison to step forward with her music. I know it won't be this year...that AI Tour has to happen first. But, come this time next year, I expect she'll be working on something good.
At this point, I suspect the "best" artist will win...maybe not on the American Idol stage, but within the next year and a half for all of us to hear on our own radios and mp3 players. I like 'em all...couldn't pick just one if I had to!
